United Way Announces Day of Action June 21, 2016
Redding, CA – (June 10, 2016) – On June 21, 2016, the United Way of Northern California (UWNC) will host a Day of Action — Health and Fitness Field Day for our community’s youth and families.
United Way Day of Action is an invitation for local community members to LIVE UNITED and take action to address a variety of challenges. Each June, communities and their local United Ways around the world come together to harness the volunteer spirit and improve the conditions in which they live.
In Shasta County, United Way anticipates around 400 participants for the Field Day event at Shasta College, and hopes to partner with as many as 25 other non-profit agencies. The event will be at the college’s Track Field, 11555 Old Oregon Trail, Redding, from 9 am – noon on Tuesday, June 21.
Young people and their families will learn about nutrition; play games that emphasize the importance of fun and fitness; explore higher education; learn about local non-profits, and find ways to become more involved in the local community.
Many generous sponsors have stepped up to make this upcoming event possible including: Dignity Health, Shasta College Office of Access and Equity, Redding Bank of Commerce, Redding Rotary Club, Tri Counties Bank, Pepsi, Redding Rancheria, Win-River Resort and Casino, City of Shasta Lake, Colt 45s, Redding Chamber of Commerce, and The Print Smith.
The Colt 45s will be giving away free tickets to the youth that attend Day of Action for that evening’s home game against the Portland All Stars. The game is set to begin at 7:15 pm.
